Buller Calliope Rare Tokay

$120.00 inc GST per bottle

Buller Wines makes some of the finest fortified wines in the world. We have great pride in presenting a range of fortified wines for every wine enthusiast. Our Grand fortifieds are perfect for curling up in front of the fire with someone special on a winters night.

Perfection… We all strive for it, but rarely is it achieved. At Buller Wines we have had almost 100 years to perfect our world-famous, Rare fortifieds and the results have been deemed as perfection in a bottle.

Internationally renowned wine critic Robert Parker has labelled our Rare Muscat and Tokay 100/100, the ‘Perfect Wines’. Such perfection takes time, care and attention to detail. The solera is constantly monitored to ensure consistency but perfection only comes in small quantities with less than 1000 bottles released each year. Every bottle of our Rare Tokay are individually numbered for authenticity and traceability.

Description

YOUR DESTINATION FOR HISTORY

Established in Rutherglen in 1921 by Reginald Langdon Buller, the ‘Calliope Vineyard’ was named after the only surviving ship from the Great Hurricane of Samoa – 1889.  A.B. (Banjo) Patterson’s ‘Ballad Of The Calliope’, tells the tale in stirring fashion. Reginald’s vision of his new enterprise successfully sailing through the tempests of business and agricultural life proved prophetic. After almost 100 years Buller Wines is testament to the foresight of Reginald and is a leading winery within North East Victoria.

A NEW ERA

In 2013 the business was purchased by the Judd Family, who are fifth generation locals. Buller Wines has been rejuvenated with a strong focus on investment in winemaking, storage, operations and most importantly, the vineyards. This investment is reflective in the quality of wines produced by Winemaker Dave Whyte.
Our operations are based in the world-renowned Rutherglen Region of Victoria. Rutherglen is internationally recognised as one of the preeminent fortified wine producing regions of the world and Buller Wines leads the way with extraordinary fortified wines in the Muscat, Tokay and Tawny Ranges.
In recent years under the guidance of Dave Whyte we have established ourselves as a coveted Five Star James Halliday Winery. We pride ourselves on the quality of every bottle we produce. We have something for everyone’s taste, from sparkling to award-winning table wines and of course, our world-famous fortifieds.

Tasting Notes:

Deep golden amber in colour. Burnt toffee, honey and rancio notes perfume. The palate displays honey, malt and cold tea characters. Intense sweetness is balanced by a dryining finish.
