Description
YOUR DESTINATION FOR HISTORY
Established in Rutherglen in 1921 by Reginald Langdon Buller, the ‘Calliope Vineyard’ was named after the only surviving ship from the Great Hurricane of Samoa – 1889. A.B. (Banjo) Patterson’s ‘Ballad Of The Calliope’, tells the tale in stirring fashion. Reginald’s vision of his new enterprise successfully sailing through the tempests of business and agricultural life proved prophetic. After almost 100 years Buller Wines is a testament to the foresight of Reginald and is a leading winery within North East Victoria.
A NEW ERA
In 2013 the business was purchased by the Judd Family, who are fifth generation locals. Buller Wines has been rejuvenated with a strong focus on investment in winemaking, storage, operations and most importantly, the vineyards. This investment is reflective in the quality of wines produced by Winemaker Dave Whyte.
Our operations are based in the world-renowned Rutherglen Region of Victoria. Rutherglen is internationally recognised as one of the preeminent fortified wine producing regions of the world and Buller Wines leads the way with extraordinary fortified wines in the Muscat, Tokay and Tawny Ranges.
In recent years under the guidance of Dave Whyte we have established ourselves as a coveted Five Star James Halliday Winery. We pride ourselves on the quality of every bottle we produce. We have something for everyone’s taste, from sparkling to award-winning table wines and of course, our world-famous fortifieds.

Palate: The Primary fruit characteristics are balanced by rounded tannins, plums, currants, cocoa and vanilla combine to provide a beautiful lingering finish.
Food Match: Eat it with beef, rare on the BBQ, sliced thinly in an Asian salad or long slow roasted in the slow cooker. Open the bottle and let it breathe and savour the intensity of flavour in each glass.
