Sustainability at Rymill Coonawarra
Rymill Coonawarra was the first family-owned wine business in the Coonawarra region to boast Freshcare and Entwine accreditation achieved in 2012. These organisations provide the industry’s sustainable certifications, enabling you to see which wines are made with the highest standards and least impact on the environment. The accreditations, which are only given out under thorough audits and the strictest international standards, recognise Rymill’s commitment to our environmental responsibilities in both our vineyards and winery.
Rymill Coonawarra’s vineyards host a healthy and diverse ecosystem by promoting biodiversity in plants and animals. Quality grapes are our primary objective, and they come from happy and healthy vines which grow amid a plethora of grasses and medics, bugs, beetles, spiders and birds.
We encourage this diversity by practices such as the application of natural fertilizers and grazing sheep on weeds/grass in the vineyards to minimize herbicide usage. Integrated pest management ensures the balance of nature is disrupted as little as possible.
This is a versatile wine which will go with a range of foods like Arancini Balls, Roasted Quail or as an aperitif on the verandah with friends.
