Description

YOUR DESTINATION FOR HISTORY

Established in Rutherglen in 1921 by Reginald Langdon Buller, the ‘Calliope Vineyard’ was named after the only surviving ship from the Great Hurricane of Samoa – 1889.  A.B. (Banjo) Patterson’s ‘Ballad Of The Calliope’, tells the tale in stirring fashion. Reginald’s vision of his new enterprise successfully sailing through the tempests of business and agricultural life proved prophetic. After almost 100 years Buller Wines is a testament to the foresight of Reginald and is a leading winery within North East Victoria.

A NEW ERA

In 2013 the business was purchased by the Judd Family, who are fifth generation locals. Buller Wines has been rejuvenated with a strong focus on investment in winemaking, storage, operations and most importantly, the vineyards. This investment is reflected in the quality of wines produced by Winemaker Dave Whyte.
Our operations are based in the world-renowned Rutherglen Region of Victoria. Rutherglen is internationally recognized as one of the preeminent fortified wine-producing regions of the world and Buller Wines leads the way with extraordinary fortified wines in the Muscat, Tokay and Tawny Ranges.
In recent years under the guidance of Dave Whyte, we have established ourselves as a coveted Five Star James Halliday Winery. We pride ourselves on the quality of every bottle we produce. We have something for everyone’s taste, from sparkling to award-winning table wines and of course, our world-famous fortifieds.

Buller Calliope Range of Wines:

Our Calliope Range is developed from our 100-year-old vines where the grapes are grown naturally, without irrigation and vintages are made in only the best years. The Calliope Range is made in limited quantities and is sold only by allocation to our most discerning customers. Our Calliope wines are traditionally fermented with extended maceration on skins to achieve equilibrium of flavour and structure. The wine is matured in American Oak hogsheads and is meticulously overseen by our Winemaker to ensure only wine of the highest calibre makes it to the bottle.

Buller Wines truly is your destination for quality wine, fabulous food, fun events and celebrations.
